S – He got up, rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Silence! Be still!” The wind ceased, and there was a great calm. 40 Then he said to them, “Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?”
Mark 4:39–40 CSB
O – Experienced fishermen (disciples) and others were genuinely afraid. They were in their own element and experiences and saw the danger of the situation. Jesus does a miracle no one else can do. He continues to demonstrate his power and authority with the hope that they will believe in Him more than conventional wisdom.
A – We all face “storms” every day in our own lives, elements and experiences. Jesus wants us to bring him into them and invite his power and authority to be displayed. The challenge is when you do that and you don’t see any changes. Or, not doing it because we try to fix it ourselves. Faith is not a formula. It is us believing even when we don’t see it.
R – Lord, you know all the storms each of us are facing. Whether physical, mental or spiritual – we have a lot of challenges in our lives. We invite you into each storm we are in and we activate our faith that you will work your will in each one. Help us to grow in our faith that you can do more than we can imagine in each storm.
