S – My brothers and sisters, if any among you strays from the truth, and someone turns him back, 20 let that person know that whoever turns a sinner from the error of his way will save his soul from death and cover a multitude of sins.
James 5:19ā20 CSB
O – We should welcome back the person who leaves the truth of their relationship with God and follows their own path.
A – Our hearts as believers should be for restoration when someone has sinned. Some are inclined to compassion while others are inclined to judge. Restoration is a healthy dose of both. Sin cannot just be overlooked and loved “over.” Nor should it be addressed with only wrath and consequences. It is should be addressed with a strong tension of both that yields repentance of the sin and movement back towards God. James ends his whole writing by sharing the importance of not dismissing those who are lost.
R – Lord, help me to do this today.
