S – “Pharaoh was angry with his two officers, the chief cupbearer and the chief baker, and put them in custody in the house of the captain of the guards in the prison where Joseph was confined. The captain of the guards assigned Joseph to them as their personal attendant, and they were in custody for some time.”  Genesis 40:2–4 CSB

O – A couple of items:

1.  Chapter 39 tells us that Joseph was put in the prison where the Pharoah’s prisoners were confined.  This explains how the two officers of such high status are in this place.

2.  The captain of the guards is Potiphar (39:1).

3.  He is the one who assigns Joseph to serve them while in custody.  Could Potiphar still see the character and God’s presence with Joseph even while in jail?

4.  Joseph would need this “royal connection” to get to where God destined him.

A – Even in difficult times and circumstances, God is bringing the right people and opportunities to accomplish his will.  I need to focus on aligning with God’s character, will and purpose.

R – Lord, help me to do this.
